phthoggos (2019)
In this piece or performance I explored some possibilities of creating an electroacoustic instrument around the very rough sound of my extended technique alto saxophone playing. Working with Max MSP and different controllers I was triggering different kinds of samples and doing rough and glitchy, clicks&cuts-style sound processing. Performing „phthoggos“ felt like faking a duo with an AI improvisation machine, except the „AI“ consists of myself and a couple of random parameters. Drawing inspiration from extreme music genres such as extratone but in terms of spatialisation techniques also from electroacoustic music. After performing it a couple of times I decided not to repeat it again for the moment.
